1920년대 춘천본당 관할 교우촌의 통혼 분석
통혼권에 관한 연구는 한 사회의 문화의 변동과정을 분석할 수 있는 중요한 지표이다. 천주교인 간의 통혼에 대해서는 탄압을 피해 이주한 이들이 신앙을 지키기 위해 교우촌에서 많이 행해졌다고 알려졌으나 이를 입증할 수 있는 자료는 부족한 상황이었다. 춘천본당 관할 교우촌의 통혼 사례에 대한 분석은 통혼이 지속되었다는 전제하에 1920년대의 춘천본당 관할 교우촌의 통혼의 범위를 분석해 본 것이다. 시기를 1920년대로 한정한 것은 수합된 자료가 이 시기에 한정되어 있기 때문이다. 1882년부터 1924년까지의 교세통계표를 통해 교우촌을 파악해 본 결과, 1882년 샘밭, 물이울, 버들골을 시작으로 1920년대에는 춘천 관할 지역인 가평, 홍천, 화천, 양구, 인제 등지에 21개의 교우촌이 형성되어 있었음을 알 수 있었다. 1920년대 춘천지역의 혼배문서는 당시 춘천 본당 주임이었던 김유룡 신부가 작성한 것으로 1923년부터 1930년까지 남아있으나 일부 누락된 것이 있으며, 당시 전체 통혼 건수는 94건이었다. 춘천본당의 관할 교우촌의 통혼 범위는 춘천지역 내에서 뿐만 아니라 인접한 홍천, 원주, 가평 등지 및 양구․인제․포천 등지의 교우촌과도 통혼이 이루어지고 있어 교우촌과 교우촌간의 교류를 통하여 통혼을 하면서 신앙을 유지하였음을 알 수 있었다. 통혼의 범위를 분석하고자 했으므로 혼인 당사자에 대한 연구는 하지 않았으나, 이후 구교우 집안의 족보, 면담, 교적의 분석을 통해 교우촌간의 통혼을 심층적으로 살펴볼 수 있으리라 생각한다. 다만 교우촌의 실태를 파악하는 연구가 시도되었음에 의미를 부여하며, 이후 자료가 더 많이 발굴되면 교우촌의 생활상으로서의 통혼의 사례와 수치가 더 면밀하게 나오리라 기대해본다.
Intermarriage Analysis of Catholic Communities within the Jurisdiction of Chuncheon Parish in 1920s
The study of intermarriage rights is an important indicator that allows the analysis of progress in a society’s cultural changes. The intermarriage among Catholics has been known to be often practiced in Catholic Communities in order to defend their religious faith by the ones who migrated to escape the oppression, however, the data to prove this is not sufficient. The analysis of intermarriage practices in Catholic Communities under the authority of Chuncheon parish was to clarify the scope and extent that time under the assumption that the intermarriage continued in 1920s. The reason why this study was set as in 1920s was because the data was collected was limited to this time. As the result from the analysis of Catholic Communities by catholic statistics from 1882 to 1924, the total of 21 Catholic Communities have formed to be found in areas such as Chuncheon, Gapyeong, Hongcheon, Hwacheon, Yanggu, and Inje in 1920s, which have started from 1992 in Saembat, Mulyiul, and Beodeulgol villages. Marriage documents in Chuncheon area in1920s were written by Yu Ryong Kim or the parish priest of Chuncheon church and the documents remained were from 1923 to 1930 with some individual cases missing listing the total number of intermarriage as 94. The scope of intermarriage within the Catholic Communities under Chuncheon parish did not just cover Chuncheon but also the places adjacent to it such as Hongcheon, Wonju, Gapyeong, Yanggu, Inje, and Pocheon, which showed that the faith had been maintained through exchanges between the Catholic Communities and intermarriages. Since the objective of this study was to evaluate the scope of intermarriage the study of marrying parties was not conducted but in the future study of the intermarriage within Catholic Communities could be stretched further in details by the analysis of genealogy, interviews, and church registers. The fact that the research was tried out to grasp and to understand the condition of companion village is given the significance and it is expected to obtain more cases and numbers in details when more of the subsequent data is discovered in the future.
