초기 그리스도교 세례 공간의 역사적 배경과 형성과정 고찰
초기 그리스도교의 세례당은 세례의 역사적 중요성에 근거해 세워졌으며, 지금까지 영향을 주고 있다. 따라서 이 연구의 목적은 역사적인 기록과 문헌을 통해서 초기 그리스도교 세례 공간의 건축적 특성을 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초기 그리스도교 시작부터 세례는 중요한 전례였다. 초기 세례는 강이나 바다와 같은 자연적 요소를 사용하여 이루어졌다. 둘째, 1∼2세기 동안 초기교회는 전례가 없었던 시기였기 때문에 특별한 건축적 요소가 없었다. 가장 오래된 것으로 알려져 있는 세례당은 시리아의 두라에우로푸스로서 그리스도교 공동체가 개인주택을 사용한 것이다. 두라에우로푸스의 세례당에는 세례반이 있었으며 교육실과 같은 부속공간이 있었다. 셋째, 카타콤에도 세례 공간이 있었다. 넷째, 4세기는 그리스도교 건축과 세례당이 건축되기 시작한 중요한 시기였다. 세례의 유형에 따라 세례 공간은 세 가지로 구분되며, 다음과 같다. 1) 세례당, 2) 세례반, 3) 세례대
A Study on the Process of Development and the Historical Background of baptistery in the Early Christian
In the Early Christian architecture the baptistery was constructed on the historical importance of baptism to Christians. And so far it has been affecting. So, the purpose of this study is to analyze architectural characteristics of the early christian baptismal space by reviewing historical records and literatures. The results of this study are as follows. First, Baptism has been part of Christianity from the start. The initial baptism was made using natural elements such as river or sea. Second, During 1-2C, Early Christianity didn't have special architectural characteristics as it was a time when no liturgy ritual. The earliest known baptistery is Dura Europos in Syria which christian community made use of a private house. The baptistery of Dura Europos had Baptismal basin and had attached spaces like a education room. Third, Catacomb has had baptismal space. Fourth, The 4th century was an important period in which Christian architecture and baptisteries began to be built. According to the type of baptism, baptismal space was divided into three types. The types are as follows. 1) Baptistery, 2) Font, 3) Baptismal font.
