『병인 순교자 시복재판록 1차』 질문서 (Congr. Riti. Processus 5282, fols. 2682-2707)의 비판정본
이 글은 Congr. Riti. Processus 5282 fols. 2682-2707를 판독하고 비 판정본(editio critica)을 만드는 것을 목표로 한다. 이 문서는 병인박해 순 교자 관련 교회측 기록 중 하나인 『병인 순교자 시복재판록 1차』[교구재 판록]의 질문서(Interrogatoria)이다. CRP 5279~5282는 이득수 교수가 1999년 교황청 비밀문서고(Archivum Secretum Vaticanum, ASV)에서 발견한 병인박해 순교자들의 시복재판 기록이다. CRP 5279는 교황청위임재판[2차 수속]기록, CRP 5280~5282는 교구재판[1차 수속] 기록에 해당한다. 재판록은 순교자의 시복(諡福, Beatificatio)을 위한 재판 과정에서 작성된 문서인데, 한국어로 작성된 한국어 재판록과 이를 라틴어로 번역하고 공증 과정을 거친 라틴어 재판록이 하나의 짝을 이룬다. 한국어 재판록이 원본이라는 점에서 사료적 가치가 있다면, 라틴어 재판록은 교황청에 접수된 문헌이라는 점에서, 공식 문서로서의 위상을 가진다. 그런데 두 문헌이 내용적으로 완전히 동일한 것은 아니다. 단적으로 시복재판의 질문서는 한국어 재판록에는 부재(不在)하며 오직 라틴어 재판록에만 기록되어 전승된다. 이 글에서는 질문서의 비판정본을 제시함으로써 다음과 같은 성과를 거둘 수 있었다. 우선 재판록을 구성하는 핵심적인 내용인 질문과 답변을 이해하고, 재판록에 대한 문헌적인 이해를 심화하였다. 또한 질문서가 시복재판이 당시에 규정된 교회법 절차에 따라 진행되었음을 보여주는 문헌임을 확인하였다. 무엇보다도 라틴어 재판록과 한국어 재판록이 사실 하나의 몸체라는 사실을 질문서를 통해 명확히 밝히었다. 이렇듯 질문서의 문헌적이고 역사적인 가치는 자명하다. 질문서의 비판정본과 역주가 향후 이루어질 시복재판록의 비교 연구 및 비판정본 작업에 출발점이 되기를 희망한다.
A Critical Edition of Interrogatoria in Documents of Beatification trial, Congr. Riti. Processus 5282, fols. 2682-2707
This paper aims at deciphering Congr. Riti. Processus 5282, fols. 2682-2707 and making its critical edition. CRP 5282, fols. 2682-2707 is 'Interrogatoria', which was used in Processus Informativus for Pyŏngin martyrs. They suffered martyrdom during Pyŏngin persecution(1866~1867). After persecution, Documents of trial for the Beatification were officially made according to the ecclesiastical laws (N.B. CRP 5279 for Processus Apostolicus; CRP 5280~5282 for Processus Informativus). Documents were firstly written in Korean as originals, then translated into Latin and notarized through canonical procedures. Testimonies were collected at ecclesiastical trials in accordance with the fixed questions from Interrogatoria. Actually, it has been impossible for a long time to understand Documents of trial and their contents, as Interrogatoria is not preserved in Korean Documents but only in Latin Documents. According to our critical edition, we would like to newly suggest three points. First, we find that Interrogatoria greatly helps understand exact questions and answers from witnesses. Second, we prove that these Documents of trial were made from ecclesiastical process for Beatification. Third, we confirm that both Latin Documents and Korean Documents construct a single body. In addition to this, we emphasize that there should be further comparative studies. It is needless to restate both philological and historical importance of Interrogatoria. In conclusion, we hope our research would lay the foundation stone for further understanding Documents of trial, CRP 5279~5282.
